In 1987 Susan B. made her “official” entrance into the Seattle BDSM community by joining the local SM Dyke club, Outer Limits. From there she quickly went on to become a coordinator in that organization until it closed in the mid-90's. Susan became the co-founder/producer of the well-known and highly-regarded Wicked Womyn SM conferences in Seattle. She also served as a coordinator for all of the Powersurge Conferences as well. Susan has taught many workshops across the country on play piercing, cutting, suturing, fire play, blood drawing, flogging, and Japanese rope harness. Some of the events she served include Women at Leather Pride in Amsterdam, Dark Odyssey in Baltimore, Lesbian Sex Mafia in New York, Thunder In The Mountains in Denver, Pacific Friction in Portland, and Powersurge, Seattle Women of Leather, The Wetspot, C-Space and other S/M communities around the country. She believes it is not only important for her to share her knowledge about SM techniques but also to listen and learn from others as well. She has many interests, but motorcycle riding and service bois are her favorite. She identifies as a top and a daddy, and she has a particular fondness for having her boots shined. It is with great pride that we welcome Susan B. to Denver to share her knowledge with us!

Advanced Cutting
Bottom: TBD

The cutting of human flesh dredges up many feelings and images in almost all humans, and those of us in the BDSM scene are no exception. When we think of cutting scenes, our images can range from the back alley slasher scene to one of artful decoration to a deeply spiritual right of passage. In this workshop Susan will delve into not only the imagery of all of these scenes but will also demonstrate and teach the technical aspects of intricate, decorative cutting & design. She will also show us how to find and make detailed tracings, how to place the drawings onto the human body before beginning cutting, how to safely progress through a cutting and complete the total design according to the pattern, and demonstrate for us which types of equipment and materials are best used for maximal success. Attendees are encouraged to share their knowledge, experience, and questions around cutting techniques and other design ideas with the rest of the class. If you are somewhat experienced but looking for a comprehensive treatment of this type of edge play, then this is a class you will not want to miss.

Class Level: Intermediate-Advanced, but all are welcome

Class Format: Lecture. Depending on the availability of a cutting bottom, this class can be a hands-on class.

Class Requirements: If you are squeamish around blood, then this class is not for you.

Class Objective: Knowledge about selecting designs and applying cutting transfers.

Suturing 101
Bottom: TBD

For most of us the idea of “getting stitches” or suturing closed an open wound evokes negative images of accidents, pain and bloody injuries. But for others (especially those of us in BDSM), suturing can bring forth a powerful sense of peace and transcendence. Suturing can range from closing an open wound, to superficially attaching decorations such as beads, weights, or feathers, to the human body. Not only do we find this sort of decoration beautiful but the act of attachment itself can be mind blowing. In this class Susan B. will demonstrate the methods of suturing and tying surgical knots as well as acquainting us with the various types of sutures and the needles used to implement them. She will also discuss how to choose the best placement for sutures upon the body and the various decorative options that one may utilize. Participants will have the opportunity to try suturing (if there is a volunteer bottom available). A limited number of suture instruments and forceps will be available for purchase, at cost. So, if you know nothing at all about how to run needle and thread through human skin and you have always wanted to learn the basics, then this is a class for you!

Class Level: Beginner

Class Format: Lecture with demo. Depending on the availability of a suturing bottom, this class can be a hands-on class.

Class Requirements: If you are squeamish around needles or blood, then this class is not for you.

Class Objective: Understanding of how to suture, and with a demo bottom, ability to successfully suture.
